The star of “Billions,” Showtime’s hit show, will be leaving.
Damian Lewis, who has had some personal tragedy over the last year, has announced that his time on “Billions” is done, save a few possible cameo appearances.
Corey Stoll is expected to take over the role of the financial villain in the show, with Lewis’s character, Bobby Axelrod, out of the picture.
Finally Lost – Spoiler Alert
Axelrod has crushed everyone that came in his path, but he finally met his match in a battle against Mike Prince (Cory Stoll’s character).
Prince now runs all of Axelrod’s businesses, including his mega-firm that enabled him to stack billions.
After losing everything to Prince and preparing to flee to avoid prosecution, Axelrod told Prince, “So, this is what it is to lose.”
And just like that, Bobby is gone…
What an incredible joy to spend five years working so closely with the great @lewis_damian ! @DavidLevien and I are beyond grateful to you, Damian, for the work, of course, and the fellowship, and for all you sacrificed to come do this with us.

Lewis’ recent personal life tragedy may have influenced this decision.
His wife, Helen McCrory, passed away in April at the age of 52 from cancer.
While Axelrod will be missed from the show, Season 6 looks like it has a lot of promise…
If you have never seen the show, this should be your next binge-watch.
