The defection has started.
Nevada, which has continued to lean blue in recent elections, is starting to see a reversal.
According to recent reports, thousands of registered Democrats are going independent or moving all the way over to the GOP as registered voters.
Almost 8,000 new Republicans have registered in the state, including about 2,300 Democrats who switched parties and 5,000 non-partisan voters.
And that is just over the last three months.
Moving Over
Nevada had a significant lean to the left, with almost 65,000 more registered Democrats than Republicans.
That gap is now reportedly down to about 50,000 and shrinking every month.
That number is about half of what it was during the 2020 election cycle.
Some of this is new people moving to the state as well as citizens that have never voted before.
The rest, however, is people waking up to the fact that Biden’s policies are just crushing this country right now.
We are also seeing this in other areas of the country, including former blue pockets within red states.
For instance, Mayra Flores, a GOP congressional candidate, just flipped the 34th Congressional District in Texas, a seat that had been a Democrat stronghold.
The seat was put up for grabs when Democrat Rep. Vela resigned in March after holding the seat for a decade.
Flores snatched up 51 percent of the vote to Democrats 43 percent, but she will now have to fight it out for a redrawn district that will favor Democrat Rep. Vicente Gonzalez.
We have seen this in numerous other special elections around the country as well, so it will be interesting to see how these new members of Congress pan out in the general election, many of them in redrawn congressional districts.
For now, however, we will celebrate what appears to be an even bigger red wave than was anticipated.
It looks like the best weapon the GOP now has is Joe Biden in the White House, that is, if he does not utterly destroy the country before the GOP can take back Congress in 2022, then the White House in 2024.
