Florida Polling Swings to DeSantis for First Time

Over the course of the last year, Ron DeSantis has consistently fallen behind Trump in polling.

This included Florida.

That changed this week.

The University of North Florida’s Public Opinion Research Lab now has DeSantis in the lead, 47-45, with seven percent stating they would vote for someone else.

Big Swing

There has been a perception given by the media that Trump and DeSantis are at odds with each other.

However, that narrative has not really taken grip, as only eight percent of those polled believe there is a rift.

Retake this poll today and that number may be even lower.

I say this because DeSantis has made several moves in the last few days to show his support for MAGA candidates and Donald Trump.

This poll is huge, but only IF DeSantis goes head-to-head with Trump, which I don’t think he will do.

I still believe Trump would win a head-to-head battle, but it would come down to the wire and DeSantis would take more than his fair share of delegates leading into the convention.

DeSantis, technically, could block Trump from locking down the nomination before the convention, which would be a nightmare for the Republican Party.

I just don’t see DeSantis risking something like that, especially knowing he probably has a very high position awaiting him in a Trump administration and being the heir apparent if Trump were to win his second term.
