Florida Governor Ron DeSantis is not playing.
DeSantis stated that he did not want to see vaccine passports in the state, and he meant it.
Leon County just found out the hard way, getting hit with a multi-million fine for violating the policy.
Pay Up
Some governors have been talking tough but not backing it up.
The same cannot be said for Governor DeSantis.
After the Leon County required employees to provide proof of vaccination, it got hammed by the state health department for violating DeSantis’ mandate.
The state health department called it a “blatant violation” and slapped the county with a $3.5 million fine.
Governor DeSantis stated, “It is unacceptable that Leon County violated Florida law, infringed on current and former employees’ medical privacy, and fired loyal public servants because of their personal health decisions.
“We will continue fighting for Floridians’ rights and the Florida Department of Health will continue to enforce the law.
“We’re going to stand up for Floridians’ jobs, stand up for Floridians’ livelihoods, and stand up for freedom.”
The county plans to fight the fine, setting up yet another battle over COVID vaccines likely to wind up before the Supreme Court.
