Kamala Harris has managed to do it again.

Harris, after being set up in another softball interview, managed to flub it epically.

This time, Harris used a word to describe the pandemic that brought visions of Jimmy Carter slamming back into memory.

Malaise

The answer is… malaise.

The question is, what is the one word no politician, especially a Democrat, should use when answering a question?

The reason is that Jimmy Carter used the word “malaise” when describing the energy crisis during his presidency.

While the speech was received well at the time, the use of that word would come back to haunt him as the energy crisis played out.

Not long after that speech, Carter had a massive changeover in the White House, with some calling it a presidential meltdown.

Historian Kevin Mattson wrote, “The president’s poll numbers sank again as confusion and disarray took over.

“Carter could give a great speech, but there were two things he couldn’t manage: to govern well enough to make his language buoy him or to find a way to yoke the energy crisis with concrete civic re-engagement initiatives.”

Does that remind anyone of this administration?

Yet, Harris answered a question about the pandemic using that phrase…

I also want to get into Harris’ comments about unemployment and the economy.

Anyone, and I mean ANYONE, could have improved the economy after coming out of a national shutdown.

You also don’t get credit for lowering the unemployment rate when about a quarter of the country was forced out of work because of those shutdowns.

When the shutdowns were first ordered, I wrote that this is exactly what Democrats needed to win the election and set themselves up for their own administration.

When you literally destroy an economy and force millions of workers to sit on the sidelines, what do you think happens when you finally open things back up and send them back to work?

This administration needs to beat pre-COVID numbers to be considered successful, not ridiculous highs that we saw toward the end of the lockdowns.

This administration did not create six million jobs… people were going back to work from jobs they had already been laid off due to the pandemic.

I still don’t understand why a single media member has not challenged anyone in this administration on this front.

The American people are being deceived with smoke and mirrors and the mainstream media is complicit.
