The hatred for Donald Trump in Tennessee’s Republican Party is very real.
The state legislature tried to block Morgan Ortagus with new legislation that, for the first time, gave a very specific residency requirement.
Even though the legislation passed, the Secretary of State ruled that the legislation could not block her since she had already entered the race.
Since that did not work, the state GOP decided to remove here and Robbie Starbuck from the primary ballot.
We Don’t Want You
All told, three candidates were removed from the primary ballot.
In addition to Ortagus and Starbuck, Baxter Lee was taken off the ballot.
It appears that the Tennessee Republican Party is now dictating who is best for the state rather than giving voters the opportunity.
Whether they like Ortagus, Starbuck, or Lee is not really the question, as the party is setting a very dangerous precedent that could quickly come back to bite them all.
Ortagus ripped the state GOP after the decision was made and accused them of anti-Semitism.
In part, she stated, “I’m a bonafide Republican by their standards, and frankly, by any metric.
“I’m further disappointed that the party insiders at the Tennessee Republican Party do not seem to share my commitment to President Trump’s America First policies.
“Our team is evaluating the options before us.”
Anti-Semitism is the oldest and one of the most vile forms of hatred on this earth, and Senator Niceley should be ashamed of his repeated anti-Semitic rhetoric. I am incredibly proud to call myself a part of the Jewish people.https://t.co/yllABIr48I pic.twitter.com/hbaLPaLxZF

While the state legislators may not like Trump, there are plenty of people in Tennessee that do, and my guess here is that come their next election, they are going to pay for what they did.
