House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) had a bit of a rough patch with Trump.
However, now they seem to be on good terms.
That could change soon after a new report broke regarding a fundraising group associated with McCarthy and some anti-Trump Republicans.
That Uh Oh Moment
Take Back the House 2022 is a fundraising committee that is aligned with Rep. McCarthy.
McCarthy and Trump are supposed to be allies in removing anti-MAGA Republicans as well as beating Democrats in the upcoming 2022 election.
The problem, however, is that this group is supporting some of the Republicans that Trump is trying to oust from office.
Among the most notable are Reps. Anthony Gonzalez (R-OH), Peter Meijer (R-MI), and David Valadao (R-CA).
There were several other Republicans that had voted to impeach Trump as well.
According to a recent CNN report, McCarthy’s office reached out to Trump to protect several of these candidates, asking Trump not to get involved in their primary races.
Also of note is that neither Rep. Kinzinger (R-IL) nor Rep. Cheney (R-WY) were supported by the committee.
