Aides in Congress are the ones that know it all and see it all.
They hear all the backroom chatter and all the secret deals that take place, so they are always very much in tune with the temperature of Congress.
The fact that almost 75 percent of them believe the House will change hands in 2022 is undoubtedly sending a shiver right up the spine of Pelosi.
Doomsday is Coming
Due to huge wins in the House in 2022, Republicans only need to flip a handful of seats to regain the majority in Congress.
Based on the early days of the Biden administration, that seemed very likely to happen, a prognostication that was corroborated by the latest Punchbowl News survey of congressional aides.
A whopping 73 percent of them believe the Dems will lose power after the results of the 2022 election are finalized.
What was shocking about the poll, however, was that these same aides seem to believe that Democrats will gain an overall majority in the Senate, which is currently sitting at 50-50.
Ironically, the majority of these staffers believe the benefits extended by Biden are hurting the economy.
At 58 percent, that means quite a few Democrats are selling something to the American people they do not even believe in themselves.
If history holds, Democrats can expect to lose about 25 seats in 2022, but we think it could be far worse than that.
Even so, with that number, Republicans would have a significant edge and could turn Biden into a lame duck for the last two years of his term, setting the table for a red tsunami in 2024.
