Joe Biden just got some really bad news.
The State Department Inspector General’s office has announced that it is launching an investigation into the botched Afghanistan withdrawal.
As if that was not bad enough for Biden, the investigation will also look at the drone strike that killed 10 innocent civilians, including seven children.
Investigations Launched
Acting Inspector General for State, Diane Shaw, recently informed Congress that “several oversight projects” are being launched regarding military and diplomatic missions in Afghanistan.
Congress was informed of the investigations on October 15.
Shaw stated, “Given the elevated interest in this work by Congress and the unique circumstances requiring coordination across the Inspector General community, I wanted to notify our committees of jurisdiction of this important work.”
With this news, it is very likely Inspector Generals overseeing other departments will also launch investigations, most notably the Defense Department and Afghanistan Reconstruction.
The two major aspects of this report that will be the most telling will be Biden’s actual plan and why Bagram was given up when it was clearly needed for a successful withdrawal.
The second aspect that could be incredibly damaging will be the botched drone strike that killed 10 innocents, including seven children.
If any guidelines were violated in that strike, it could spell the end for Biden, with possible impeachment charges stemming from the investigation.
We can only hope the office has integrity and the investigation is not merely being launched as a way to protect Biden rather than get to the truth.
These days, I would not put such a ruse to be beyond the government.
