There is finally some good news coming out of Ukraine.
Ukraine and Russia were finally able to sit down together and work out an agreement.
While not a peace deal, the grain export deal signed is a huge sign of progress for these two.
More importantly, it could signify much bigger things to come.
Shipping Lanes are Open
Ukraine supplies a significant amount of the global supply for grains.
If you have noticed rising prices for bread and other grain-based products, this is why.
The new deal will open the shipping lanes in the Black Sea without a threat of attack.
It will take a bit before we see lower prices, but at least it is something that will lessen the impact of the inflated prices we are seeing right now.
UN Secretary-General António Guterres stated, “Today, there is a beacon on the Black Sea. A beacon of hope, a beacon of possibility, a beacon of relief in a world that needs it more than ever.
“The question has not been what is good for one side or the other.
“The focus has been on what matters most for the people of our world.
“And let there be no doubt – this is an agreement for the world.”
Now if we can get them to hammer out a peace deal so our tab stops running for the costs of this conflict, it would be great.
