As I have stated many times, gerrymandering happens on both sides of the aisle.
I am not excusing or justifying, it is just the fact.
However, it only seems to create outrage when the GOP gets called out for it, and it gets completely ignored when Dems do it, including Dems screaming the loudest over GOP gerrymandering, which this year would be Barack Obama and Eric Holder.
Why the Double Standard?
If you are going to root out gerrymandering and make a national scene about it, it should be done on both sides of the aisle.
Obama-era Attorney General Eric Holder formed an organization to specifically stop gerrymandering, only he has not challenged one Democrat map as of yet.
New York would be a great place to start, as the Democrats are wiping out four GOP seats in the House.
In Maryland, Democrats are trying to draw lines that would squeeze out the only Republican House member in the state.
Mark Levin stated, “They’re trying to wipe out the one Republican congressman they have.”
Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH), whose seat could also be in danger, agreed with Levin, adding that it is “only gerrymandering when Republicans control the state legislature and draw the districts, but not when Democrats do it in, like, New York, Maryland, California.”
California has a decent number of Republicans in the House, but they have been squeezed out over the years.
Jordan touched on that point, stating, “There’s still a lot of Republicans in California, but you look at the General Assembly in California — it’s dominated by Democrats.”
The Pennsylvania House Republican caucus added, “Unfortunately, this year’s Legislative Reapportionment Commission appears to have wholly disregarded existing communities of interest, making massive changes in a number of districts across the state.”
Levin added, “You see what’s going on in New York.
“These things are going on in New Mexico, they’re going on in California, and I feel that Democrats are better at this sort of thing than the Republicans.
“In other words, the Democrats are better at being scandalous … and the Republicans better wake the hell up.”
Democrats know they have only one chance to hold Congress in 2022 and that is to cheat… so they are literally wiping out as many GOP seats as they can get away with.
In court cases thus far, Dems have gone undefeated, not losing a single challenge and sending two GOP maps back to the drawing board.
If they continue down this path, there is a small possibility they could still hold the House, which would be a devastating blow to Republicans.
