A nightmare scenario has just popped up for the GOP.
This past weekend, Justice Clarence Thomas was taken to Sibley Memorial Hospital.
He was reportedly suffering from flu-like symptoms.
After testing, doctors diagnosed Thomas with an infection and admitted him for treatment.
Recovering
Thomas was treated for the infection and doctors stated that he is now resting comfortably.
They further stated that his symptoms “are abating.”
At 73 years old, the questions start to get asked when a justice falls ill.
Conservatives currently have a 6-3 edge on the bench, but at least four of the conservative justices have been more than willing to walk to the other side of the aisle.
Thomas is a hardline conservative who regularly dissents from any opinion deemed left of center.
In years past, he has been quieter, but over the last few years has been penning dissenting opinions if for no other reason than to get a debate started on very specific points of law.
Thomas is despised by the left, and you better believe administration officials are licking their chops at the thought of replacing a conservative hard-liner with a liberal justice.
We can only hope the reports that he is recovering are accurate, as conservatives cannot afford to lose another seat and allow Biden to tilt the scales.
