On Saturday, a woman was murdered at The Times Square train station.
While standing on the platform, a man came up behind her and pushed her on to the tracks.
The alleged culprit has finally been taken into custody.
And This Is Why…
Like many large cities, New York City has a massive homeless problem that little is being done to fix.
We know that many of these individuals are mentally unstable.
That problem has just cost an innocent woman her life.
The victim was a 40-year-old woman waiting for the R train early Saturday morning.
The alleged culprit is a homeless man who initially fled the scene but later turned himself in to the police.
The man seemed intent on killing someone that day, as he had previously approached another woman.
Assistant Police Chief Jason Wilcox stated, “He approaches her and he gets in her space. She gets very, very alarmed.
“She tries to move away from him and he gets close to her, and she feels that he was about to physically push her onto the train.
“As she’s walking away she witnesses the crime where he pushes our other victim in front of the train.”
As stated above, the suspect, 61-year-old Simon Martial, is a homeless man with a criminal record.
Wilcox stated, “He does have in the past three emotionally disturbed encounters with us that we have documented.”
Eric Adams, the new Mayor of New York City, is obviously concerned.
New York is ruined if people do not feel safe on the subway.
He stated, “We want to continue to highlight how imperative it is that people receive the right mental health services, particularly on our subway system.
“To lose a New Yorker in this fashion will only continue to elevate the fears of individuals not using our subway system.”
“Our recovery is dependent on the public safety in this city and in the subway system,”
Those are great words, but he now has a DA in Manhattan that does not want to prosecute crime, so…
Would you trust going to New York City right now?
