The gauntlet has been thrown down.
The existing field of candidates willing to go up against Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY) was not to Trump’s liking, so he found his own candidate.
After reports of Trump’s endorsement surfaced, Cheney had two words for Trump… ‘Bring it!”
Game On!
Trump has met with most of the candidates that had already announced.
The problem was that the highest-profile candidate in the race was surrounded by controversy.
There were several veterans in the mix, which is where most thought Trump would go, but none of them have really been setting the world on fire to this point.
So, Trump courted Harriet Hageman, an attorney and, up until this week, the Wyoming National GOP Chair.
Hageman resigned her post and now has Trump’s endorsement in the race.
The former president stated, “Harriet has my Complete and Total endorsement in Replacing the Democrats number one provider of sound bites, Liz Cheney.”
Cheney immediately responded, “Here’s a sound bite for you: Bring it.”
This will, by far, be Trump’s biggest test for his endorsement power.
If Trump is able to get the rest of the challengers to drop and consolidate around Hageman, AND if she is able to defeat Cheney, it will be a huge boost for Trump’s profile and send a shock wave through both political parties.
This will easily be the most-watched primary race in the country.
