As horrifying as Tuesday was for this nation, it could have been much worse.
According to police, a Maryland man was also threatening violence at a local school on Tuesday.
Thankfully, authorities were able to arrest the man before he was able to carry out his threats.
They Got Him
Police arrested Earl Benjamin Watson, 46, in St. Mary’s County on Tuesday.
The man had made violent threats against a private business and the Gale-Bailey Elementary School around the same time the Uvalde, TX, school shooting was taking place.
Police believe a domestic incident initiated the threats.
The local Sheriff’s office stated, “The calls to the specific locations are related to people he knows and is believed to be domestic-related.”
After taking the man into custody, the Charles County Sheriff’s Office added, “Although there is no specific threat to our schools at this time, officers will be there to provide support, comfort, and security for our students and staff.
“We are with you all.”
Something is terribly broken in this country when people think it is okay to hold our children hostage and use violence against them as revenge.
