Immigrations and Customs Enforcement… apparently, Homeland Security Secretary Mayorkas forgot what ICE stood for, so we thought it would be a good idea to remind him.
This is especially true after a bizarre order was given this week.
Mayorkas, in a memo, directed Acting ICE Director Tae Johnson to abort “mass worksite operations” to deport illegal immigrants.
Let Them Stay
Workplace raids have been commonplace for years.
Far too many companies and farming operations in this country use illegal immigrants as the larger part of their workforce.
This saves them money across the board in employee benefits, taxes, and wages.
These workplace raids exposed both the operations and usually netted dozens, if not hundreds, of illegal immigrants when they were conducted.
If you recall, the Trump administration made national headlines in 2019 during a workplace raid, with almost 700 illegal immigrants being detained who had worked in a food processing plant in Mississippi.
That will no longer be the case.
Mayorkas’ memo stated, “The deployment of mass worksite operations, sometimes resulting in the simultaneous arrest of hundreds of workers, was not focused on the most pernicious aspect of our country’s unauthorized employment challenge: exploitative employers.
“These highly visible operations misallocated enforcement resources while chilling, and even serving as a retaliation for, worker cooperation in workplace standards investigations.”
The memo is not sitting well with conservative groups.
RJ Hauman, head of government relations for the Federation for American Immigration Reform (FAIR), stated, “After the issuance of today’s memorandum effectively ending worksite enforcement – on top of other radical policy changes that are getting hard to count – one thing is clear: Secretary Mayorkas is the biggest disaster for border security and immigration enforcement in American history.
“Since the Biden administration cannot abolish ICE outright, Mayorkas is destroying it from within.”
Sadly, this is not the only agency in danger of being destroyed by Mayorkas.
Look no further than the bogus narrative of Border Patrol agents whipping migrants from Haiti.
Had the photographer not come forward and a journalist published the video, Mayorkas and the Biden administration would have been able to fire those agents and utterly gut the Border Patrol (since it was proven false, the “investigation” has yet to be concluded).
This administration has effectively ended border enforcement, and they need to be held accountable.
Sadly, we still have a full year before anything can possibly be done about it.
Until Republicans can take back Congress, this nonsense will continue unfettered.
