House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) has had about all he can take of the childish behavior in Congress.
It is bad enough party members are trading childlike barbs with the opposing party, but now that has seeped into the GOP among its own members.
So, Minority Leader McCarthy dropped the hammer, held a meeting, and told his caucus to knock it off!
Stop It
Ironically, earlier today, I referred to Congress as pre-school because of all the childlike back-and-forth we have seen as of late.
It was bad enough when the attacks were going back and forth between the parties, but now that GOP members are squabbling among themselves, it is time to dial it all down a notch.
I cannot stress enough the opportunity that Republicans have in the upcoming election cycle and they cannot blow it with infighting like we are seeing among the progressives and moderates in the Democrat Party right now.
To that point, McCarthy, after seeing numerous members of Congress start to go at it, stated, “Congress is not junior high.”
In other words, knock off the nonsense, debate issues behind closed doors like adults, and put up a united front to utterly destroy Democrats in the upcoming election cycle.
The rebuke comes after Rep. Boebert’s (R-CO) comments went viral regarding Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN).
Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) took up for Boebert after Rep. Mace (R-S.C.) was critical of the video.
Greene called Mace “the trash in the GOP conference,” which drew a response from Mace calling her “batshit crazy.”
Just as McCarthy stated… it’s very junior high and it needs to stop.
McCarthy is asking the entire party to come together and put up a united front so they can take back the majority in overwhelming fashion come 2022.
Keep in mind, McCarthy is also in the midst of a struggle of his own after seeing two GOP House members already have their committee assignments stripped and Boebert possibly facing censure and loss of committee assignments after her comments about Omar.
If McCarthy cannot get the party united and focused, it will make it very difficult for him to get that gavel in his hands when and if Republicans retake the House.
