I have a bit of a love-hate relationship with House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA).

As a party leader, I think he has been extremely weak.

Having said that, he just made a statement that I believe he needs to work very hard to get everyone on the same page.

Not for Political Headlines

We are already hearing whispers of a Biden impeachment if Republicans take control.

McCarthy is now warning party members not to impeach Biden for the sake of headlines and political purposes… and he is right.

In order for the impeachment to actually go through and not be perceived as revenge for the Trump impeachments, Republicans would have to have a supermajority in the Senate, which is unlikely.

Without that, regardless of how guilty or innocent Joe Biden is, he will not be impeached.

This will amount to nothing more than a political stunt that will just add to the tab the American people are already paying.

McCarthy wants to avoid that, stating, “One thing we learned that the Democrats did is they – they used impeachment for political reason.”

He continued, “We believe in the rule of law.

“We’re not going to pick and choose just because somebody has power. We’re going to uphold the law.

“At any time, if someone breaks the law and the ramification becomes impeachment, we would move towards that.

“But we’re not going to use it for political purposes.”

There are three very important factors to consider here.

First, the public perception is usually against the GOP, so a failed impeachment would not go over in the media the way the Trump impeachment did.

Second, as bad as Joe is, the alternative is Kamala Harris, which none of us want to see.

Third, even if Joe Biden leaves office, impeachment proceedings can take place, so it would behoove the GOP to hold off on anything until after the 2024 election IF they manage to get the supermajority in the Senate that would be needed to have a successful impeachment.

I believe they would be better served to pursue the Hunter Biden ties immediately after taking control.

Even without a supermajority, if they can prove Biden broke the law and/or benefitted from Hunter’s business dealings, something he has said was not the case for years, an impeachment is far more likely.

Better yet, if they can expose corruption, it could even send someone in the Biden family to jail.
