Senator McConnell (R-KY) has been taking a lot of hits recently over his view of how the Senate will struggle in 2022.

Now, I do not like McConnell, this you all know.

However, I have been ringing the same bell regarding the top battleground seats that are up for grabs.

After a tongue-lashing from many high-profile pundits, McConnell is now caving, opening up the checkbook for yet another Trump candidate.

The Bailout

I have never liked Mehmet Oz for Senate in PA, but Trump’s endorsement has him headed into the general election.

Oz is weak, very weak, with a long record of liberal stances, but the party has no choice but to back him at this point.

Even though McConnell has pointed to candidates like Oz as weak, he is jumping in to help Oz try and win this race.

After sending more than $20 million in ad buys to JD Vance in Ohio, the McConnell Senate Leadership PAC is now writing checks totaling $34 million to help Oz.

SLF President Steven Law stated, “Pennsylvania is a top-tier priority that is integral to our goal of electing a Republican Senate majority.

“We have long said Pennsylvania is a winnable seat if Republicans can stay competitive on air and articulate a message about improving Americans’ quality of life — now we are putting our money where our mouth is.”

To this point, Oz has been a bit of a lost cause, stumbling regularly and badly trailing a far-left candidate at home recovering from a heart condition.

At one point, Oz was down by double digits, but the most recent polling, albeit a traditionally slanted poll, has Oz within six points of Fetterman now.

Oz hopes to make waves in debates, agreeing to five possible debates against Fetterman, although Fetterman has yet to commit.

Oz stated, “Now that Fetterman has returned to the campaign trail for one event after a three-month break, Pennsylvanians deserve to know whether he will engage in real debates or stay hiding in his basement.

“Debates are a crucial part of the democratic process, and every day that goes by, Fetterman needs to answer to Pennsylvanians, why won’t he debate, what is he hiding?”

If I were Fetterman, I would avoid these as long as possible because there is zero benefit.

He has Oz over a barrel, so Oz needs to be the one to apply pressure to expose the real Fetterman.

If he can do that, he can still possibly come back and take this race.

Other Trump candidates in trouble right now are Herschel Walker (GA) and Blake Masters (AZ).

Somehow, we need to tip two of these races to have any hope of taking back the Senate in 2022.
