Has the New York Times published yet another erroneous story?
If Melania Trump’s office is telling the truth, that is exactly what has happened.
After a recent NYT report stated that Melania Trump’s “Tulips and Topiaries” fundraising event was under investigation, her office claimed the report is “inaccurate.”
More Fake News?
Today’s media is obsessed with all things Trump.
Sadly, their main goal seems to always put a negative slant on the story.
Such is the case with a recent report regarding Melania Trump.
The fundraiser with “Tulips and Topiaries” has been touted as benefiting” ‘Fostering the Future,’ a ‘Be Best’ initiative.”
Neither of those is registered in the state of Florida, which is required by any group raising charitable contributions.
The thing is, they are not the groups raising the money; that is a different group that will apparently donate the money raised to “Fostering the Future,” which is perfectly legal.
They are literally telling donors to their charity exactly where this money will be dedicated.
The NYT also reported that an investigation was underway in the matter.
Erin M. Moffet, an agency spokeswoman, stated, “Consumer Services Division is currently investigating whether this event involves an entity operating in violation of Chapter 496, Florida Statutes.”
After the initial story broke, Melania’s offices stated, “We are working w/Bradley Impact Fund, a Donor-Advised Fund, to select charities that will receive the donations to foster children.”
Her office later added, “Mrs. Trump is still an honorary guest at the ‘Tulips and Topiaries’ high tea event.
“Everything has been done lawfully and necessary documentation is in the works.
“Mrs. Trump does not have a Be Best foundation or a Fostering the Future foundation.
“Donations will go to a 501c3 that already exists, which helps foster care children.
“The NYT story is inaccurate. Mrs. Trump is not under an investigation.”
If I have read all the reports correctly, it seems like the NYT may have sensationalized a routine inquiry to make sure all the I’s are dotted and the T’s are crossed into some nefarious act Melania.
If that is the case, they will surely owe Melania Trump an apology, but I think we can all agree that apology will never come.
