Mike Pence is trying to stay relevant; I have to give him that much.
To that point, Pence just announced the launching of a new agenda for Advancing American Freedom.
Freedom Agenda will promote a “positive and traditional view of America,” according to Fox News
The Endgame
I have to admit, I am a bit confused with the endgame for Mike Pence.
His split with Trump, be it right or wrong, had hurt him politically.
His initial allegiance with Trump has the never-Trumpers in the party upset with him.
Pence’s break with Trump has Trump’s supporters upset with him.
It is hard to imagine that Pence would ever be able to mount a serious national campaign again, yet he keeps throwing darts.
In announcing the new agenda for his organization, Pence stated, “In 14 months Biden has done more damage than any other president in history.”
He added, “The American way of life is under threat as never seen before.”
Pence later added, “Elections are about the future, and frankly the opposition would love nothing more for conservatives to talk about the past or to talk of the mess they’ve made of the present, but I think it’s of equal importance we focus on where conservatives at every level, whether it’s the active citizen or whether it be people in public life, can carry the country.
“And I think by relentlessly focusing on the future we can stop the radical left, we can turn this country around, we can win the Congress and state houses back in 2022, and we can win back America in 2024 and beyond.”
That is a backhand slap at Trump, who clearly would prefer to relive the 2020 election until he is declared the winner.
The really interesting thing about all of this is that there are a lot of very powerful allies of Trump that are behind this.
That list of names would include former Secretary of the Interior David Bernhardt, senior counselor to President Trump Kellyanne Conway, former United States Ambassador to Israel David Friedman, former Education Secretary Betsy DeVos, and former Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker.
