Joe Biden has asked businesses to require masks and NASCAR is among the first step up and grant him his wish.
On Wednesday, NASCAR announced that masks would be required by personnel at all enclosed areas at all times.
The order is in place regardless of vaccination status.
NASCAR Mandates
According to the new mandate, masks will have to be worn by all personnel in enclosed areas to include but not limited to haulers, buildings, restrooms, the infield care center, race control, and suites.
I would suspect drivers and crews to say the “right” thing publicly, but I cannot imagine this is sitting well with them, let alone fans.
The new restrictions will be in place this weekend at Watkins Glen.
NASCAR stated that it updated its new guidelines based on recommendations by consulting physicians and the recently updated guidance from the CDC.
At this time, there are no restrictions in open spaces, but social distancing is required.
That, of course, could change in a heartbeat if Biden decides to ramp up more mandates and restrictions.
Since Watkins Glen is located in New York, any changes from the White House will be more than likely welcomed and enforced by New York officials.
