When you think of people who could possibly be behind an attack on Texas Governor Greg Abbott, is California Governor Gavin Newsom at the top of your list?
He should be, because he’s the man behind recent ads in Abbott’s state.
Newsom is running full-page advertisements in Texas touting his new gun laws.
Gavin made it knows that he was signing a bill allowing Californians to sue those making, selling, transporting, or distributing illegal assault weapons.
The bill is a response to Texas’ move to let citizens sue abortion providers.
A quote from Gregg Abbott about abortion providers was modified to refer to guns instead of unborn chilren.
The ad ran in the Houston Chronicle, Austin American-Statesman, and El Paso Times.
“If Texas can ban abortion and endanger lives, California can ban deadly weapons of war and save lives,” Newsom said. “If Governor Abbott truly wants to protect the right to life, I urge him to follow California’s lead.”
Earlier in the week, Newsom had run television ads in Texas attacking Abbott.
