Joe Biden appointments just continue to prove this administration needs a new cast of characters doing its vetting.
Biden’s new Ambassador to Bahrain, Steven Bondy, is taking fire.
According to reports, Bondy has been saying nasty things about Arabs.
Under Fire
Politico broke a report on Monday that is creating quite a stir.
Bondy reportedly treats his staff “like garbage” as well as making belittling comments about Arabs.
The report cited a former Trump staffer having quoted Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan (MBZ).
He allegedly stated, “We are not a fan of Bondy” because “he treats his people like garbage.”
Brig. Gen. Miguel Correa stated, “I came forward after retirement upon hearing of his nomination.
“I wanted the facts to come out in the public for our leaders to see the entire picture. I would hear him say disparaging remarks about Arabs all the time.”
Bondy, of course, has denied all allegations.
He issued a statement, “I vehemently and categorically deny these accusations.
“I have dedicated my career to representing the United States and its interests in the Middle East. I have a deep and abiding respect for the peoples and cultures of the Middle East and harbor none of the prejudices attributed to me.”
Other officials have also stepped up to defend Bondy.
Retired Gen. Joseph Votel stated, “I never saw him speak derogatorily of our partners in the region, and that doesn’t match with any of my experience with him.
“I found him to be very, very good, and he was a good and reliable adviser to me.”
Votel hired Bondy, so I am not sure how much weight his comments hold here.
In this day and age, allegations are all it takes to lose your job, so let’s see what Biden does here.
When you consider the reaction of current administration officials when unproven allegations were made against Trump officials, Bondy should be immediately relieved of duty pending an investigation.
My guess is that will not happen, however.
I will not be surprised, actually, if this entire story disappears after just a few days.
