Newt Gingrich: Best Days Behind Us

Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich appeared on Fox News’ “Fox & Friends” this week with a bit of a doomsayer message.

Gingrich stated that Americans are now “battered” and “frightened.”

He further said that he believes that Americans sense “our best days are behind us.”

The Doomsayer

The 2016 election brought out a lot of frustration in this country from both sides.

When Donald Trump ran, he brought back many disenfranchised Americans who had given up on this country a long time ago.

Their frustrations were proven to be warranted, as we saw the establishment of the political world on both sides of the aisle come together to take out the outsider.

When Joe Biden was given the keys to the White House, many of us threw our hands up in frustration, saying, “here we go again.”

Gingrich is now saying these days show an angry country that thinks its best days are behind it.

He stated, “We have to face the reality here. This isn’t 2016. This isn’t a country which is basically comfortable but angry.

“This is a country which is battered, frightened. For the first time, Americans have a really deep sense that our best days are behind us.

“Well, we’re very intimidated by the scale of the Chinese challenge.

“And as I said, we have mental health problems on a scale we have never seen, largely compounded by the worst public health decisions,

“I think, in modern history. All of which deserves to be explored.

“But people want political leadership which is going to be serious, have an honest conversation and find a way to bring us together to actually fix these things.

“Not just have more of this totally partisan bickering. And I think Kevin McCarthy, with his whole notion of a commitment to America and the kind of people he’s been recruiting,

“I think he understands this is a time for taking very seriously the challenges that the United States faces and that we face as individuals.”

I both disagree and agree with Gingrich.

First and foremost, his time in office has colored his opinion.

The American people don’t want or need leadership… we want and need representation, which stands true for both sides of the aisle.

Most of the current people in office think they are leaders and are pushing self-serving agendas.

We need those people removed, and we need people willing to represent their voters, not their pockets.

I agree there are challenges, but I think the anger he talks about has woken up a lot of people as to how corrupt the system is.

Our best days are not behind us if everyone in this country starts to wake up and flush these relics from office.

We need non-obstructionists in office who will work together, compromise, and create legislation that works for everyone.

Furthermore, this racist narrative that Democrats continue to push needs to end… all it does is create more and more divide.

Thankfully, I think many Americans realize this is all nonsense that Dems use as an excuse.

Don’t get me wrong, there will be some dark days ahead as we continue to flush this system, but coming out on the other side, I believe this country has an amazing future.

We just need people to stop acting like zombies when they go to the voting booth and continue to elect officials to office that have done nothing for We the People over decades but have instead made themselves rich.

And yes, I am talking about all of you, Mitch McConnell, Nancy Pelosi, Maxine Waters, etc.

Do you agree or disagree with Gingrich? Do you think our best days are behind or ahead?
