Harris County in Texas has been a complete debacle in terms of the primary election.
Videos surfaced of unstaffed polling stations, broken machines, and now, 10,000 ballots that remained uncounted.
After significant outrage, Harris County Elections Administrator Isabel Longoria has submitted her resignation.
Buck Stops Here
After the 2020 election, one would think election officials would have been working night and day to ensure a smooth election.
That did not happen in Harris County.
Longoria stated, “Today I am submitting my resignation effective July 1.
“Ultimately the buck stops with me. I didn’t meet my standards or those set by the commissioner’s court.”
With a runoff election in May and the general election in November, Longoria stated that she would stay on until a replacement is found.
The missing ballots included voters for both Democrats and Republicans in the primary.
The breakdown was roughly 60 percent Democrat and 40 percent Republican in the missing pool of ballots.
The votes have not yet been added to tallies, but at least two election outcomes could be changed due to the gaffe by the Houston area election official.
