It now appears that local school districts have more power than governors.
We saw this in Florida recently when a school disobeyed Governor DeSantis’ Executive Order on masks and suspended a young girl three dozen times, more than likely requiring her to repeat the grade because she did not want to wear a mask.
Something similar is happening in Oklahoma, only this time it is against teachers who are going maskless.
Not Following State Law
Reports surfaced this weekend of mass firings of teachers in Oklahoma.
What did they do wrong?
Well, they did not want to wear a mask at school, so they lost their job.
The problem is that it is not supposed to be permitted under Oklahoma law.
Governor Kevin Stitt, a Republican, was livid the schools went to such drastic measures amid a teaching shortage.
In all, six teachers were terminated.
Governor Stitt stated, “Oklahoma City public school district had the audacity to fire six talented teachers.
“They were fired because they wouldn’t follow an illegal mask mandate issued by their superintendent. This is preposterous, especially in a time when talented teachers are needed more than ever,”
“Let me be clear: This is about a school district not following state law. This isn’t a debate about masks.
“These teachers even said they’d be willing to come back to class and wear a mask. But the superintendent Sean McDaniel wanted to fire them to make a point.”

These are the types of misguided decisions that are leaving many parents across the country so frustrated with their local schools! pic.twitter.com/teAMKXHE9I

Stitt signed legislation back in May that prohibited such mandates from being put in place.
So my question to him is the same question I put to DeSantis regarding the little girl getting suspended.
All this tough talk is great, but these school districts broke the law, so how do you plan on holding them accountable?

These school Superintendence’s should be the one’s fired not the teacher’s.
We have a surplus of dictatorial supervisors, fire the whole damned bunch.
Yes, agreed!! They BROKE THE LAW in that state and THEY should be forced to look for work. Not the needed teachers.
So when do the lawsuits start?
When does the Governor grow a pair? So why no charges?
When does the GOP Grow a pair also?
When?
Superintendent are not voted in. The school boards voted them. They can be fire. Governor do your job and fire this little evil nazi. Power went to his head. Time for his head to roll. If school boards refuse to fire him the people can recall everyone of them.
Very True. School Boards are next. If they don’t stand be hind the law, then their heads need to roll too.
that’s not true in all states superintendents in Fl. are voted for
Hey Stitt, grow some balls and have them atrrestedf.
LET’S GO BRANDON!
Oh please please, hold those schools accountable. Set a precedent. It is crazy how many Democrats can break laws and get away with no consequences. When will the Republicans start holding them accountable for their bad decisions? It’s like parents who don’t discipline their children. If they keep getting away with bad behavior they will never stop behaving that way. Same goes for Democrats!
I SEE THAT THE COMMIE CENSORS ARE ALIVE AND WELL ON THIS SITE TOO !!!! FJB AND THE CENSORS TOO !!!
DON’T RE-ELECT ANYBODY !!!!
The super indent is the one who needs to be fired
Why is there a law with no consequences? What’s the sense?
Time to LAWYER UP AND SUE THE SCHOOL BOARD! LET’S GO BRANDON!
Seems superintendent Sean McDaniel should be fired.
Is his an elected or appointed position?
Another option might be de funding the state department of education until they decide to follow state laws.
So much talk and so little action. Is a huge amount of our problem.
