Senator Manchin (D-W.V.) is in a very tough spot right now.
During the election, he vowed not to support reconciliation, which gave voters that wanted Trump and his allies out a bit more confidence in voting Democrat.
Even though he has broken his word not to use reconciliation, he has put a smaller number than Democrats want, making him enemy number one in the eyes of progressives.
Pelosi Speaks Out
If Manchin ends up giving in to reconciliation at some point, and he will give in, it will be the second time he has done so after vowing not to use reconciliation during the election.
House Speaker Pelosi (D-CA) knows Manchin will eventually give in, he just needs to make a few headlines in the process.
If he holds out for $1.5 to $2 trillion, he gets to play hero and tell his constituents he saved them from the massive $3.5 trillion spending bill.
In the process, everyone forgets he actually broke his initial promise not once but twice.
So, what does Pelosi do? She throws him a bone in the form of a compliment to get him to add a few billion to his number.
On Manchin, Pelosi stated, “Look, I think that Joe Manchin is a great member of the Senate.
“We’re friends, we’re Italian-Americans.
“You know, we get along. Catholic.
“We have shared values. I have enormous respect for him.”
That did not go over well with the Twitter trolls, who absolutely lashed out at Pelosi for giving Joe an approving nod…

Disagree. I couldn't respect Manchin, especially not because we were ethnically & religiously the same. He's an embarrassment. He publicly pushed policies that benefit his family, so greedy. He's trying to stick to his "rebel" brand & screws over his #Democratic "team".

I have said this before… all Republicans need to do right now is shut up and allow Democrats to shred each other.
They are doing now what Republicans did when Trump was in office, which is one of the reasons Joe Biden’s moving trucks showed up at Pennsylvania Avenue in January.
This party is on the verge of a complete implosion, so let them have at it.
