When I saw this story, my heart sank…
A Mississippi police officer was responding to a shots fired call.
Sadly, when she arrived, the victim lying in the street was her son.
Heartbreaking Moment
Officer Laquandia Cooley is an officer in Hazelhurst.
She was responding to a shooting call when her life was shattered.
Officer Cooley, in describing the moment, stated, “As we get out, I look and I was like, ‘This is my son, this is my son!’”
“I couldn’t even believe what I was seeing.
“I was seeing my own son laying there on the ground dead.
“It was pretty much a panic.
“It was just, it was too much.”
The victim was Charles Stewart Jr., who was only 20 years old.
By all accounts, the boy was a great kid and loved by everyone in the neighborhood.
His father stated, “It’s traumatizing for the whole family.
“We’re just trying to cope day to day.
“Just trying to figure out why this happened and who could have done this.”
The murder was brutal, with a shot to the head having killed the boy.
Local police have now handed the case over to the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation.
At this time, no motive for the shooting is known.
