Powerful Pro-life Dems Move Away from Biden on Roe v. Wade

Joe Biden has always had pro-life Democrats in his corner.

This would be because he supported legislation such as the Hyde Amendment and then-Senator Orrin Hatch’s (R-UT) failed legislation to nullify Roe v. Wade in 1982.

That has now changed in a big way.

See Ya, Joe

During the 2020 campaign season, Joe Biden completely flipped his stance on abortion.

Biden was one of only a handful of Democrats that supported the Hyde Amendment and had worked to overturn Roe v. Wade almost two decades ago.

He used to be an aberration in the Democrat Party… someone that was pro-life.

As we all know, that is no longer the case, and now very powerful and influential pro-life Democrats and organizations are distancing themselves from Biden.

Kristen Day, executive director for Democrats for Life, is among them.

She stated, “I think when Roe v. Wade was decided, it stopped an important discussion by our nation of how we treat the pre-born and how we treat women who experience unplanned pregnancies, so I think it’s really important [that] it go back to the states because we can’t continue right now and what is happening.”

Day added, “I think there’s a lot of tone deafness when it comes to the Democratic leadership.

“They’re really beholden to the abortion lobby and I say the abortion corporation.

“As Democrats, we normally don’t protect corporations, yet the Democratic Party decided to embrace this corporation and deregulate it, which is not consistent with Democratic values.”

She also explained that top Dems, such as Jaime Harrison, have outright refused to meet with pro-life Democrats.

Louisiana State Senator Katrina Jackson, a very influential Democrat and pro-life advocate, is also moving away from the party line here.

Jackson also agrees the Roe v. Wade decision was constitutionally wrong, stating, “I really believe that Roe v. Wade should be overturned for all states, but I understand his logic regarding those who are elected to determine whether or not they want abortion in their state.”

She further went on to paint the decision as racist in nature, stating that Roe v. Wade was a way to control minority populations.

She also slammed the leak, stating, “The court is a sacred institution in our nation that has had the ability to operate outside of public scrutiny prior to the leak coming out.

“When you have leaks of this nature, it says something about where we are as a nation that we will do whatever is necessary when a judge makes a decision adverse to what we believe.

“It puts the integrity of the justices discussions, their preparations, in jeopardy.”

Will this move pro-life Democrats to vote Republican in 2022 and 2024? Probably not.

However, it may keep them at home, dramatically decreasing voter turnout for Democrats overall.

Or, maybe, just maybe, Democrats can start to put forth more moderate candidates that do not hold a strong party line and are willing to work with conservatives to find a middle ground on these controversial issues.

A man can dream, can’t he?
