New White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre is having a bit of a rough week.

She had made several crucial errors, and the White House press corps has pounced.

This week, there were two disastrous encounters for her, one of them with Fox News’ Peter Doocy, who just refused to let her off the hook.

Knockout Blow

With Biden touting getting something done against gun violence in the country, Doocy was wondering why Biden was not staying in DC to talk to lawmakers or even inviting them to his beach house, but instead having a family party to celebrate Jill Biden’s birthday.

Doocy stated, “His whole thing was that he knows how to get things done in Congress.”

Jean-Pierre then responded, “He does, he does.

“He’s beaten the gun lobby before, he has.”

She sounded more like she was trying to convince herself rather than making an actual point.

Doocy then hit her about not inviting members of Congress to his beach house, at which point she thought it was a good idea to crack a joke, responding, “You want to go to the beach with the president tonight? Is that what you’re trying to tell me?”

Doocy immediately fired back, “If people are dying every day, why is the president then saying that he wants to give it some space and let somebody else—”

As usual, she gave a long-winded answer that did not address why Biden is not working with lawmakers this weekend.

Doocy then hammered her on what laws the Democrats are presenting would have prevented the Uvalde, TX, mass shooting.

He asked, “Which law would have prevented that?

“Do we think all of these people in Chicago that are shooting each other are legally buying their guns?”

Again, she gave a speech rather than an answer, stating, “This is not about politics, this is not about partisan politics here, this is something that he has worked on since he was a senator.

“This is very important and real for the president and for the grieving families that he has met with, sadly in the last two weeks.

“So this is an opportunity to call for action, to get Congress to move.

“It is disheartening to hear that this could potentially be used as a political tool and that’s not what this is.”

Oh, but it is about politics because the laws Democrats are presenting do nothing in the overall scope of things.
