Saban Support for Filibuster Removed from Manchin Letter

So, several days ago, a huge report broke about the heavyweights brought in to pressure Senator Manchin (D-W.V.) to break the filibuster.

I think most of you know how I feel about celebrities and politics, so I never even bothered to make a post on it.

A rather dramatic revelation on this front, however, has now made this a major story.

Edited Letter

Some sports heavyweights penned the letter sent to Manchin.

Among those listed in the letter was Alabama football coach Nick Saban.

The letter had urged Manchin to support the voting rights legislation, but there was something carefully edited out of the letter.

The implication here, knowing that the only way to get the legislation passed was to break the filibuster, was that everyone in that letter also supported the filibuster being broken.

That, however, was not the case.

Saban actually supports the filibuster, but because the subject had not been broached with everyone that signed the letter, his support for the filibuster was removed from the letter.

When Manchin found out, he took no time touting the fact that the reports on the letter were quite misleading.

Manchin stated, “Coach Saban is exactly right: you cannot throw the filibuster out and expect the legislative process to work better.

“I wholeheartedly agree with the coaches that ‘Our democracy is at its best when all Americans are encouraged to participate.’”

He added, “Nick Saban at the bottom of his letter — which they didn’t put, Paul Tagliabue didn’t put what Nick Saban wrote at the bottom, his footnote, he supports the filibuster.

“Do not get rid of the filibuster. Now why did he automatically leave that out?”

The footnote he was referencing in those comments stated, “Coach Saban is not in favor of getting rid of the filibuster in the Senate.

“He believes this will destroy the checks and balances we must have in our Democracy.

“The others signing this letter take no position on this aspect of Senate policies.”

As it turns out, the publicly shown version of the letter that was distributed removed the footnote, but it was included in the letter that Manchin actually received.

You are being conned by the media, America… it is as simple as that.

What do you think about the blatant deception on this letter?
