Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA) may have finally gone too far.
Schiff released a video of an alleged text sent to Trump’s former Chief of Staff, Mark Meadows.
The problem… Schiff appears to have doctored the evidence to push his narrative rather than allowing the full text to stand on its own.
We Got Him
First and foremost, this being an active investigation, it is about as slimy as it gets that the January 6 committee is leaking this information.
There is only one reason it would do so… to create pressure via public sentiment.
Second, the fact that the committee is selectively editing and releasing information shows just how tainted this investigation is right now.
The deck could not be stacked more against Trump officials.
Look no further than a recent text that was released by Rep. Schiff.
Here is the video report that Schiff gave…
The message to which Schiff referred was sent by Department of Defense Inspector General Joseph Schmitz.
He had crafted legal arguments that Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) had passed on to Meadows.
Schiff only listed the first part of the text, but we have it in full below…
“On January 6, 2021, Vice President Mike Pence, as President of the Senate, should call out all the electoral votes that he believes are unconstitutional as no electoral votes at all — in accordance with guidance from founding father Alexander Hamilton and judicial precedence.
“‘No legislative act,’ wrote Alexander Hamilton in Federalist No. 78, ‘contrary to the Constitution, can be valid.’ The court in Hubbard v. Lowe reinforced this truth: ‘That an unconstitutional statute is not a law at all is a proposition no longer open to discussion.’ 226 F. 135, 137 (SDNY 1915), appeal dismissed, 242 U.S. 654 (1916).
“Following this rationale, an unconstitutionally appointed elector, like an unconstitutionally enacted statute, is no elector at all.”
Everything you see above in bold and italicized was left out of Schiff’s report.
As you can see, it changes the context of that text considerably.
Schiff also doctored the graphic itself to make it appear as though it was an actual screenshot of the text, which it was not.
Schiff has done this before, most notably during the Trump impeachment hearing.
Schiff acted out a conversation between Trump and Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, only the exchange never actually happened.
Schiff is clearly trying to sway public opinion, but he is tampering with evidence that should not even be made public yet.
This man must be exposed and held accountable for his actions. We simply cannot tolerate this type of behavior from a member of Congress.
