REPORT: Biden Considering Unfreezing Afghanistan Assets to Taliban

A report broke earlier today that is beyond disturbing.

An Afghan news outlet and the BBC reported Biden might soon unfreeze Afghanistan assets.

This means the funds that the Taliban has been unable to access since taking over the country would be available to the terrorist organization.

Are You Serious, Joe?

When the Taliban took over Afghanistan, all assets that were contained in banks in the United States were frozen.

To this point, nobody has recognized the Taliban as a formal government entity, but releasing these funds is, in essence, doing just that.

However, some of our adversaries, such as Russia and China, have called the Taliban the “de facto” government of Afghanistan.

Both China and, more so, Russia, have been calling on the United States to release the funds to “ensure the survival of the Afghan people,” according to a Breitbart report.

The United Nations has also recently taken up this case, warning of impending famine throughout the country unless these funds are released.

Afghan’s Khaama Press claims that a BBC report stated, “A US official has been cited as the Biden administration is considering easing financial restrictions on Afghanistan and the country will issue a license to allow financial aids to Afghanistan.

“The source has said that the US administration has held a meeting in which easing sanctions on Afghanistan has been discussed in order to allow international aid organizations to deliver humanitarian aids to Afghanistan.”

State Department spokesperson Ned Price stated, “We have provided, since August, $208 million alone, we provided nearly $475 million over the course of this year.

He added that the Biden administration was “working with the various U.N. bodies … to find creative ways that we can infuse not only humanitarian aid, but also liquidity into the Afghan economy.”

This money is supposed to be going to the people of Afghanistan, but I think we all know that is not actually happening.

Until proven otherwise, we have to assume the Taliban keeps any funding sent to the country to fund its terrorist operations.

The Taliban has done nothing to prove a change of heart, quite the opposite, actually.

There are still horrific human rights violations being reported, showing the Taliban has hardly had changed its ways.

Do you think the United States should release all Afghanistan assets?
