David Chappelle has made a lot of headlines over the last few years in his fight for social justice in this country.
When George Floyd was killed, Chappelle dedicated a live shot that mimicked the exact amount of time that a knee had been placed on George Floyd’s neck.
Some are now calling him a hypocrite for his opposition to housing plans that would impact his hometown and possibly his business interests.
Take It Off the Table
Chappelle showed up at a local council meeting issuing a blatant threat.
A housing plan on the table would have included low-income affordable housing near the project that Chappelle is developing.
Chappelle has millions on the table for a local comedy club and restaurant.
However, if the housing was included in the plan, he openly told the council that he would take his money right off the table, every penny of it.
Chappelle stated, “I am not bluffing.
“I will take it all off the table,” then he walked away…
According to sources close to Chappelle, it was not the affordable housing aspect of the plan that had him upset but rather the entire plan in general.
Residents have complained that the new housing would impact traffic and water management.
Chappelle has not publicly commented on the situation, but we would expect him to do so soon, especially considering the fact he is now being called a hypocrite before anyone knows the full story behind his reasoning on this.
