Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has been attacked by Democrats and the media throughout this pandemic.
While most states shut down, he refused to buckle his economy and it has paid off.
Florida is thriving, and now it is also reporting the lowest per capita COVID rate in the country.
Paying Off
DeSantis is not anti-vax, even though Democrats would love to make him out to be.
He has openly encouraged everyone to take the vaccine, but he does not want it required.
The approach is working, as Florida is about the middle of the pack overall for vaccination rates as well as having one of the higher vaccination rates for the more populated states.
Florida now has a daily average of fewer than 1,400 cases of COVID, or about six cases per 100,000 residents.
The bad news for Democrats is that the number keeps going down.
That is some pretty fantastic news for a man who has been accused of going on a “killing spree” by Democrats.
On the flip side, there is the Democrat state of Michigan, where Governor Gretchen Whitmer had one of the strictest lockdowns in the country as well as going all in the vaccine mandate.
Even so, she currently had the highest per capita rate in the country right now.
New York is also sky-high right now, reporting 34 cases per 100,000 residents.
You remember New York, right? The state where Governor Cuomo received an Emmy Award for his handling of the pandemic.
One year later, the state is still a mess!
DeSantis Press Secretary Christina Pushaw took a victory lap, stating, “It just shows once again the success of Governor DeSantis’s science-based and data-based policies.
“He’s always made decisions based on the data and that continued even during the Delta surge this summer what he realized would help was not mask mandates in school or lockdowns but provide treatment that actually works.
“He opened the 25 state-supported monoclonal antibody sites and provided that treatment all over the state free of charge to over 150,000 Floridians, saved thousands of lives, and that happened starting in August.
“Since then, our cases are down by over 95% with no restrictions on people’s freedom.”
Dems can say what they want, but the approach by DeSantis is and has been working from the outset.
With the new Omicron variant now creating a collective shudder around the globe, other governors would be well-advised to follow DeSantis’ lead.
