Reports are starting to surface that could be a bombshell in regard to the Russian origins probe being conducted by former U.S. Attorney John Durham.
If reports are accurate, Durham is about to seek an indictment against Michael Sussmann, an attorney working for the Democrat National Committee (DNC).
Durham is no longer the United States Attorney for Connecticut, but he has been retained as the Special Counsel to continue his work on this probe.
Could Be Huge
I have never hidden my belief that I thought this investigation would hit a goose egg in terms of taking down someone major.
However, a possible indictment of Sussman could be a complete game-changer and have me with some egg on my face.
Sussman is not what gets me excited on this front but rather the idea that if indicted, he may roll on the DNC and, more importantly, on the Hillary Clinton campaign.
The New York Times reported, “The case against Mr. Sussmann centers on the question of who his client was when he conveyed certain suspicions about Mr. Trump and Russia to the F.B.I. in September 2016.
“Among other things, investigators have examined whether Mr. Sussmann was secretly working for the Clinton campaign — which he denies.”
If the indictment is going to come down, it must be made before this weekend, as the statute of limitations is about to expire on possible prosecutions, as the conversation in question occurred on September 19, 2016.
Sussman’s representatives deny any wrongdoing, stating, “Mr. Sussmann has committed no crime.
“Any prosecution here would be baseless, unprecedented, and unwarranted deviation from the apolitical and principled way in which the Department of Justice is supposed to do its work.
“We are confident that if Mr. Sussmann is charged, he will prevail and vindicate his good name.”
For all his faults, Durham is meticulous in investigative work, so IF he brings charges, they are likely to stick.
The IF is the keyword there, as this could literally be like a falling Jenga tower if an indictment comes down.
If I were ever wrong about anything, I would love for this to be it.
