Correct me if I am wrong, but when Trump was in office, one of his most passionate causes was getting drug prices lowered.
Even on this, Democrats tried to fight him, but now they are trying to push through their own legislation.
Ironically, they can’t even get their entire party behind the legislation, and Senator Bernie Sanders (I-VT) is having a fit over it.
Bernie Is Upset
Sanders, of course, could not just express his disappointment with the Dems that voted against the legislation.
He also felt the need to take yet another shot at Republicans.
After the vote came through, Sanders sent out this tweet…
I'm very disappointed in the vote today on prescription drugs by the House Energy and Commerce Committee.
I get that the pharmaceutical industry owns the Republican Party and that no Republican voted for this bill, but there is no excuse for every Democrat not supporting it. https://t.co/O5JutBDrt6

The Dems that voted against the bill, Reps. Kurt Schrader (D-OR), Scott Peters (D-CA), and Kathleen Rice’s (D-N.Y.), did so because they believed the bill would handicap the innovation of drug companies.
Dems, of course, are going to find a workaround, as usual.
Energy and Commerce Committee Chairman Frank Pallone Jr. (D-N.J.) vowed to add the legislation to the massive $3.5 trillion spending package that Dems want to ram through via reconciliation.
Sanders, on that note, stated, “The good news is that the full Congress must and will do far better.
“At a time when the drug companies are charging us by far the highest prices in the world, Congress must demand that Medicare negotiate prices with this extremely greedy and powerful industry.”
