At the last second, Senator Joe Manchin (D-W.V.) backed off from supporting the $1.75 trillion “infrastructure” reconciliation package through the Senate.
It was very much a surprise move, and one that caught everyone off guard.
Senator Bernie Sanders (I-VT) was among them, and he immediately went off on Manchin for holding up the bill.
Bernie Goes Ballistic
Sanders has blocked his fair share of bills in the Senate, but he does not like it when someone else does it on a bill he supports.
After agreeing to a $1.75 trillion figure, Manchin apparently does not like what the bill actually contains.
Using his own words, this is a social spending bill rather than an infrastructure bill.
Sanders pushed the same debunked narrative that Joe Biden has been pushing in slamming Manchin to support the bipartisan bill and not the reconciliation package.
He stated, “The fact is … that, according to the CBO [Congressional Budget Office], the infrastructure bill runs up to a $250 billion deficit. It’s not paid for.”
He continued, “The legislation that I wanna see passed … is paid for in its entirety.
“It will not have an impact on inflation.
“So, if we’re talking about fiscal responsibility, I think what we’re trying to do with the reconciliation bill is the right thing.”
Sanders is lying, of course, because the reconciliation only pays for itself with Democrat math, not actual math, as numerous studies have proven.
In fact, the reconciliation bill is projected to add about twice as much to the national debt as the bipartisan bill will.
So, once again, the media allows a Democrat to lie without so much as the blink of an eye.
