A very interesting report has just surfaced that the entire country has been getting played, including Congress, by Senators Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) and Joe Manchin (D-W.V.).
According to a New York Post report, Manchin and Schumer made an agreement in July of a top-line number for reconciliation of $1.5 trillion, the number Manchin has been holding to all along.
The kicker is that although the deal was reached in July, they agreed not to start negotiating on what would be in the bill until October 1, purposely sandbagging the smaller bipartisan bill.
They Played Us All
I have been saying all along that Manchin is a snake in the grass that cannot be trusted.
He showed us all that when, during the election season, he vowed not to use reconciliation for budgetary bills.
Then, he immediately caved for Dems to push through another COVID spending bill.
When the $3.5 trillion bill was introduced, Manchin spouted off that there was no way he would back reconciliation for infrastructure.
He even went so far as to write an op-ed telling the party to pump the brakes.
All along, he had a secret deal in place to spend $1.5 trillion via reconciliation.
Manchin gets his headlines to win over moderates and he also gets to appease Democrats.
However, the problem for Manchin is that progressives in the House are not going to go for a $1.5 trillion bill unless House Speaker Pelosi (D-CA) promises to start sending off individual bills to make up the difference, and that is not out of the question.
Regardless of whatever shenanigans Pelosi pulls, this truly shows just how deceitful today’s elected officials really are.
After all that talk, Manchin, who railed against Biden negotiating in bad faith, has been putting up a front the entire time.
It was all for show, folks. As I have stated before, the man simply cannot be trusted.
