Thanksgiving Day will be a somber occasion at the Schumer household today.
Late Wednesday night, Senator Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) announced the death of his father, Abe.
Abe Schumer was 98 years old.
Sad Holiday
It is no secret that I despise Schumer, but I would never wish the loss of a loved one on anyone.
To lose a parent around the holidays is a very somber feeling.
Schumer announced his father’s death on Twitter.
He wrote, “In so many ways—he personified the greatest generation.
“He took whatever was thrown at him no matter how difficult, did his job, never complained.
“An amazing husband, parent, grandparent, great-grandparent.
“We love him and will miss him.”

Schumer’s father was also a veteran who served during WWII…
My dad, Abe, is 98 years old. He served our country proudly in the Pacific in WWII. And I’m thankful for all he’s done for our country and our family. #VeteransDay pic.twitter.com/jUhJZ1m5ww
