Senate: CIA Secretly Collecting Data on Citizens

This report is going to be a conspiracy theorist’s dream.

How long have we been talking about our government being weaponized against us?

Well, it appears that is exactly what is happening in the CIA right now.

Shock Report

In April of last year, two Democrat Senators made an inquiry regarding CIA activity.

The letter was sent by Senator Ron Wyden (D-OR) and Senator Martin Heinrich (D-NM) to Avril D. Haines, the director of national intelligence, and William J. Burns, the CIA director.

It was an inquiry into a program they deemed “entirely outside the statutory framework that Congress and the public believe govern this collection, and without any of the judicial, congressional or even executive branch oversight that comes with FISA [Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act] collection.”

We are only learning about this now because the letter was declassified on Thursday.

The program is able to operate due to a Ronald Reagan-era Executive Order (12333).

The CIA and NSA have no authority to operate on American soil, as both agencies have a foreign mission.

However, their “investigations” will often capture American communications in the course of their work.

If the report is accurate, the CIA has been accumulating that data, but the exact type of data it has been collecting is still unknown.

The purpose of the inquiry by the Senators was to get to the bottom of the data collection to find out precisely what the CIA is stockpiling on Americans.

The Senators jointly stated that their “letter also stressed that the public deserves to know more about the collection of this information.

“The DNI and the CIA Director have started this process.

“We intend to continue to urge them to achieve the transparency the American people deserve.”

So how about that… Big Brother really is watching us all.
