At what could arguably be the worst moments of the Biden administration, he will be without one of his top advisers.
On Thursday, Anita Dunn had her final “official” day as a White House staffer.
Dunn is believed to be one of the masterminds of Biden’s infrastructure push.
She Gone, But…
Dunn’s role was touted as being a temporary one when her initial departure was announced.
Now that the major spending bills are working their way through Congress, Dunn’s job is done, at least on that front.
After Dunn’s departure, a White House spokesperson stated, “Anita is a backbone of Team Biden and her leadership was critical not just to the campaign but to our first 200 days in the White House.
“She’s someone all of us turn to as a sounding board and for guidance — and although she may wish we’d leave her in peace, that definitely won’t change!”
The idea that Dunn was only supposed to be a temporary appointee has not always been accepted by Biden critics, this writer included.
Dunn has refused to turn over a financial disclosure, which is generally required after receiving a presidential appointment.
Now, according to new reports, Dunn will be an outside adviser rather than a formal appointee, meaning she no longer has to reveal her finances.
The New York Times recently reported that Dunn will be given “a brief moment to breathe before she starts to plan the president’s re-election, which so far he has indicated he intends to wage.”
On the surface, this again seems like an administration that touts itself as transparent is using loopholes to hide information from the American people.
