Joe Biden wanted Congress to give him $22 more billion for COVID.
House Speaker Pelosi (D-CA) stated that the COVID situation was so dire, she wanted to double that amount.
Yet, at the same time, the administration wants to end Title 42, a program to block asylum seekers during COVID.
None of this makes sense, and Senator Sinema (D-AZ) just walked across party lines to call Biden out on the hypocrisy of it all.
Sinema released a statement this week demanding that considering the administration is extending the public health emergency protocols, Title 42 should remain in place, not removed next month as planned.
She stated, “The administration’s extension of public health emergency authorities proves the need to delay lifting Title 42 to protect the health and safety of Arizona communities and migrants.
“I’ll keep pushing for transparency and accountability from the administration to help secure the border, keep Arizona communities safe and ensure migrants are treated fairly and humanely.”
She is not alone on her side of the aisle.
Senator Manchin (D-W.V.) has been openly pushing against Biden on this front.
Senator Maggie Hassan (D-N.H.) has also spoken out, stating, “My trip to the southern border reinforced my concerns about the administration preemptively ending Title 42.
“Border agents were very clear with me that the end of Title 42 will lead to a steep increase of attempted crossings that they will not be able to effectively handle because they don’t have enough resources.”
Sinema’s fellow Democrat Senator, Mark Kelly, also hammered Biden on this, stating, “Title 42 was put in place because of a public health emergency. It shouldn’t be around forever, but right now this administration does not have a plan.
“I warned them about this months ago.”
Moderate Democrats, and not just the moderates in border states, are terrified of how the revocation of Title 42 will impact their seats, so there are also House Democrats that are pushing back on this.
Yet, Biden is ignoring them all and pushing forward… and it will crush the Democrat Party in the 2022 (and more than likely the 2024) election cycle.
