Stephen Colbert Addresses Arrest of Staff

Stephen Colbert was back on the air after an eventful weekend.

Numerous staffers from his show were arrested at the Capitol for being in area where they did not have access.

Colbert gave his take on the incident, taking a few shots are Fox News along the way.

First Degree Puppetry

Colbert did not take any shots at the Capitol Police for doing their job.

He instead saved his wrath for Fox News and conservatives, taking quotes of context in the process.

So, below is his monologue, then I will break it down…

In terms of his “insurrection comment,” that was Jesse Watters, who was clearly joking when he made the reference.

The fact that he concentrated on those two words out of context and made such a big deal about it proves just how dishonest the information coming from this man’s mouth is.

I watched the Watters segment in real-time, and when I man cannot get the words out of his mouth without laughing, I think it is pretty clear that he was being a wiseass.

In terms of the charges his staffers were hit with, many of those charged on January 6 were hit with the same charges and sent to jail.

So, you can see why conservatives are paying particular attention to this.

Regardless of why they were there, they were in an area they were not supposed to be, so will there be a difference in punishment that is dished out.

And, to be clear, I would be surprised if any charges are ever prosecuted.

Colbert’s staff was reportedly given access by an aide for one of the Democrats in the House, so you can see why conservatives really want to see some charges handed down.
