Louisiana Attorney General Will Appeal to Supreme Court

Louisiana Attorney General Jeff Landry has confirmed that he’s making the big move:

He’s appealing to the Supreme Court of the United States of America.

The announcement comes as Landry seeks an outlet to appeal the Biden admin’s “social cost of carbon” policy after the 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals refused to rehear the issue.

The case revolves around Joe Biden’s executive order to reinstate cost estimates from Obama’s term of about $51 per ton of carbon dioxide emissions to calculate the impacts of government actions on the environment.

Landry says that the order is “an attempt by the government to take over and tax the people based on winners and losers chosen by the government.”

According to Landry, “Louisiana is particularly impacted because of the state’s leadership in domestic energy production.”

It’s not just Louisiana that Landry is standing up for, a coalition of states have joined the challenge.

The list includes Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Mississippi, South Dakota, Texas, West Virginia, and Wyoming.

Landry has served as the Attorney General of Louisiana since defeating Republican incumbent Buddy Caldwell in a runoff election back in 2015.
