Swalwell Gets Slammed by FEC Commissioner for Campaign Funds Request

Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-CA) has managed to draw attention to himself again for all the wrong reasons.

The failed presidential candidate and disgraced Chinese honeypot victim is now trying to get his campaign to pay for childcare for his kids.

What is the reason? So Swalwell can go for a little trip.

Swalwell’s campaign petitioned the FEC for clarity on paying for childcare.

His attorney, Rebecca Olson, asked, “Can Swalwell for Congress pay for childcare expenses for his children if he travels at the request of foreign government or other entities because of his status as a member of Congress?

“If yes, would that include overnight care as well?”

The only way campaign funds can be used for childcare is if the costs are due to campaigning, not overseas trips.

Commissioner Trey Trainor responded, “I am a father of six children, and my wife also works.

“And I am very aware of the lengths that parents have to go to in order to provide childcare.

“I do see this as nothing more than a member of Congress looking for a way to have donors pay for nanny services while they run off on weeklong trips overseas.

“To be real honest with you: I’m actually going to pass judgment on it.

“I think it’s abhorrent that Congressman Swalwell would have such a young child and want to leave them in the care of someone else, for a weeklong trip overseas and using donor contributions to pay for that.

“I think it’s inappropriate we even had to address this question.”

One of the other commissioners on the board was offended by his comments…

Trainor immediately replied…

Swalwell knew the rules, and if this were a Republican making that request, I think we all know how outraged the left would have been.

It sure is nice seeing a Democrat take one on the chin for once
