The Taliban is hurting for funding, so it has issued a threat in an effort to have frozen funds released.
The terrorist nation is warning the west that if its funds are not unfrozen and released to Afghanistan, it will send a large wave of migrants west for resettlement.
The threat was clearly aimed at the United States, as about 90 percent of Afghanistan’s funds are currently locked down by the U.S. Treasury Department.
Give Us Our Money
This is a big moment for Joe Biden because he has just found himself in a no-win situation.
Of the roughly $11 billion behind held back from Afghanistan right now, about $9.5 billion of that is controlled by the United States.
When the Taliban took over Afghanistan, all money was frozen until the government of Afghanistan was recognized.
That will more than likely not happen anytime soon, especially with the horror stories that continue to come out of the country.
Afghanistan’s Finance Ministry spokesperson Ahmad Wali Haqmal stated, “The money belongs to the Afghan nation.
“Just give us our own money. Freezing this money is unethical and is against all international laws and values.”
The situation in Afghanistan is getting worse by the day financially, with Taliban leaders saying the country could starve to death if money is not freed up soon.
The United Nations World Food Program is taking up for the Taliban, stating, “Afghanistan is now among the world’s worst humanitarian crises — if not the worst — and food security has all but collapsed.
“This winter, millions of Afghans will be forced to choose between migration and starvation unless we can step up our life-saving assistance, and unless the economy can be resuscitated.
“We are on a countdown to catastrophe, and if we don’t act now, we will have a total disaster on our hands.”
Europe will be the first stop for these migrants if they start pushing west, which means European leaders will begin to pressure Biden to release the funding.
We all know that money will go directly into the hands of the Taliban and be used for funding terrorist operations, not the people of Afghanistan.
So, if Biden does release the money, he is literally funding terrorist attacks.
If he does not release the money, a wave of migrants sweeps across Europe and eventually winds up here in our country.
Either way, it is yet another massive strike against Biden with yet another crisis his bad policies have created.
I honestly do not see a good way out of this mess for Biden.
