Well, the “new” Taliban is at it again.
After Biden’s weak showing in Afghanistan, now, and predictably, the Taliban is flexing its muscle.
The terror group just warned Joe Biden that there could be “negative consequences” for his actions if he conducts flyovers.
So Much for Over the Horizon
For Joe Biden’s plan to work in the Middle East, the United States will need to conduct over-the-horizon operations.
If he cannot fly over Afghanistan, well, that plan goes right into the toilet.
The Taliban is now issuing a direct threat, ironically, citing the violation of “international rights” in its threat.
The Taliban stated, “We recently saw [the] United States violating all international rights, laws and … commitments made to the [Taliban] in Doha, Qatar, as Afghanistan’s sacred airspace is being invaded by U.S. drones.
“We call on all countries, especially [the] United States, to treat Afghanistan in light of international rights, laws and commitments … in order to prevent any negative consequences.”
While the Pentagon did not comment on this threat, on Friday, Pentagon Press Secretary John Kirby had stated, “We remain confident in these capabilities moving forward.
“Without speaking to specific rules of engagement surrounding airstrikes, there is currently no requirement to clear airspace with the Taliban.
“And we do not expect that any future over-the-horizon counterterrorism strikes would hinge on such a clearance.”
The Taliban truly has Biden over a barrel here because of the failed withdrawal.
Now, if Biden conducts drone missions over Afghanistan, American citizens left behind are put at risk.
So, we can add this to the pile of failures Biden has now accumulated in his nine months in office.
