Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) apparently broke the golden rule.
He turned into a Karen after reportedly missing the last call for his flight.
Cruz even did the unthinkable, allegedly telling airport staff, “Don’t you know who I am?”
Cruz was caught on video at the Bozeman Airport in Montana.
Cruz had missed the check-in window for his flight and he was unhappy that they were unable to accommodate him.
Scott Humphrey, a deputy director of Bozeman Yellowstone International Airport, stated, “One of our Public Safety Officers (PSO) was in the ticket lobby and was asked to assist with a frustrated passenger at the United ticket counter (which is not unusual).
“The passenger had missed the check-in window for his flight and re-booking options were limited out of Bozeman due to Spring Break.”
While it is unclear exactly what Cruz said, he was clearly frustrated while speaking.
A witness claims Cruz threw his weight around with the “Don’t you know who I am” question.
After the officer stepped in, a resolution was found and Cruz was rebooked on a later flight.
Humphrey added, “Our PSO didn’t realize he was dealing with Senator Cruz until after the fact.”
To be honest, that should not have mattered. They either had room or they did not, and Cruz should not have thrown a temper tantrum and expected special treatment just because he is a politician.
I like Cruz, but this is the nonsense that gets under my skin with elected officials.
They deserve no better or worse than the average person.
Cruz also gave the late-night crowd something to use against him and they all had the video teed up on Monday night’s shows.
If Cruz were smart, he would issue a statement, apologize to the counter workers at Delta, and kill this news cycle before it really hurts him.
